My setup

Claminator, Golf Club, Clam Net

A day at the beach with the new 500 caliber semi auto clam howitzer. Pounding and poking the surf line with the high dollar red handled golf club thingy bought at the Aberdeen Goodwill for a dollar two ninety eight. Them furry nosed Siliqua patula marine bivalve molluscs a.k.a. Razor Clams were all waiting for us, teasing us with the little dimple shows. Followed by a blast from the 500 caliber (5 inch) clam howitzer and POP there it is. Sometimes the fuzzy nose of the desperately digging bivalve will be poking out in the bottom of the hole the clam howitzer just blasted open. The harvester, like myself, will dive madly to the ground, getting covered in sand and reaching up to a shoulder deep to grab the victim. Other times the fuzzy nosed mollusc can be seen in the plug of sand the semi automatic 15 round (limit) clam howitzer blasts out of the surf on to the ground. The fury of the clam diggers is reminiscent of the Pixar movie with seagulls all diving on the same morsel of food, echoing the sound of: mine, mine, mine mine, mine! In the fury of digging the limit is reached and the beautiful day on the beach comes to close is short order. Now its time to stop and head back out to the surf and rinse all the beach debris from the clams, gear and yourself - if possible. Load all the gear and bivalves into the beach rig and head to the house. Fortunately having the foresight to stop at Brady's for some smoked oysters and steelhead salmon I had something to munch on for the 3 hour trip home. It was a beautiful drive home, the mountain (Mt Rainier) was out and not a cloud in the sky.
