A friend told me about the cone shaped device. Seen in the pictures. With the small opening on top heat is directed to the top of the grill lid where it is redirected towards the food. Works like a convection oven only with charcoal. With the big opening on top it is great for offset grilling. Where the meat can be seared directly over the coals and then roasted (not above the coals} to finish the cooking process. We used the Vortex attachment on Chicken Lollipops, Pork skewers and corn on the cob. For smoking wood was just added to the grill, just above the Vortex device, to hot smoke the meat. Worked great..
